Julie Herd, M.Ed.
Founder, CEO, Reading Specialist
Julie Herd is a credentialed Reading Specialist and homeschooling mom. She has a master's degree in Literacy and Reading Education. Julie is trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach, which is a structured literacy approach that is helpful for all students but essential for those with reading difficulties, including dyslexia. Julie is a former Kindergarten classroom teacher and has held school administrative positions such as Education Coordinator and Home-Based Services Coordinator. Julie has a Child Development Permit at the Program Director level and has been working in the field of education for 20+ years.
Julie founded Reading Reach to create educational opportunities for homeschooled students and to widen the availability of reading intervention services to all striving readers, including those with dyslexia.
Reading Reach serves Oceanside CA and surrounding areas, and has been a licensed business since 2021.
COO, Instructional Assistant
Matt is our classroom instructional assistant, a homeschooling dad, and a little league baseball coach. Matt holds a certificate in Computer Aided Design. He is currently receiving training in the Orton-Gillingham approach and multisensory math pedagogy. Matt has completed the dyslexia module at the UC/CSU California Collaborative for Neurodiversity and Learning.
Lea Martinez, M.Ed.
Lea has structured literacy training and a Master's degree in Educational Leadership.
